Maizbhandari Academy Hosts 10th Ulama Conference

Chittagong, February 10, 2024 — Maizbhandari Academy organized the 10th Ulama Conference as part of the SZHM Trust’s 10-day program. Scholars and dignitaries convened at the Chittagong Press Club’s Sultan Ahmad Hall to commemorate the 118th Urs Sharif of Maolana Shah Sufi Syed Ahmad Ullah Maizbhandari (K.).
The conference focused on the pivotal role of scholars in fostering social responsibility and integration with society. Dr. Muhammad Nurunnabi Azhari and Maolana Muhammad Shayesta Khan Azhari emphasized the need for cultural refinement in religious discourse to enhance the social application of Islamic teachings.
They stressed that the term ‘Alim’ does not solely encompass graduates of religious seminaries; rather, it includes knowledgeable individuals from various fields. Scholars must play a leading role in fulfilling social responsibilities by integrating with society.
Dignitaries present included the honorable Managing Trustee of SZHM Trust, Syed Muhammad Hasan Maizbhandari (M.Z.A); the Secretary of the Trust, Professor A.Y.M.D. Jafar; the Secretary of Maizbhandari Academy, Professor Zahurul Alam; former Managing Director of United Commercial Bank, Muhammad Shaokat Jamil. Participants in the discussion included Assistant Professor Dr. Maulana Muhammad Nur Hussain from the Arabic Department, Professor Dr. Abul Fatah Mohiuddin from Presidency University, Principal Fakih Dr. Maulana Kamal Uddin Azhari from Jameah Ahmadiyya Sunniyya Madrasa, Assistant Professor Syed Muhammad Jalal Uddin Azhari from the Department of Islamic Studies at Saudarn University, Lecturer Muhammad Rezaul Mustafa Tanvir Azhari from Cox’s Bazar University, Manager of Shahjalal Islamic Bank Ltd. The event featured recitations from the Holy Quran by Maulana Muhammad Mujibur Rahman, Naat presentations by Maulana Muhammad Ahaduzzaman, and a Munajat led by Maulana Muhammad Kamal Uddin Azhari.
