Three Poems by Raihan Musa

Raihan Musa is a Bangladeshi young poet who loves to compose poetry out of passion. The
following three are his unpublished poems.

To A Rising Star

I am a rebel, Orion’s wild son,
Whose soul shines with pride!
I am a musician, the lovely nightingale,
Whose celestial melodies blaze with passion!
I am a warrior, the mighty eagle,
Whose deathless courage is named defeat!
I am a poet, the prince of winter,
Whose fiery verses are sharp knives!
I am a painter, the mystical dreamer,
Whose thunderous symphonies roar with madness!

A Demonic Storm

“If we don’t end war, war will end us”
–H.G.Wells
“It is coming…” said the seer,
“The end… the end is near!
Darkness, darkness everywhere
The light? The light? Where is it?
Alas, it is fading away
And yet, does it burn weakly!
Hope is dying, but proudly She stands
Her golden soul is impaled with fear,
Her golden heart bleeds with sorrow,
And yet, she cried: ‘I will not fall!
As long as there’s life in me, I will keep on fighting!’
Alack! Alack!
Don’t cling onto illusion
No hero shall rise from the ashes
And, the mighty race of Men shall cease to exist!
Now, the final act begins
Mortals, bear witness to your destruction!
Tremble in fear,
For a roughed beast approaches.
Lustful and passionate,

The monster drinks our sufferings
And, slouches toward Bethlehem to be born!”

The Ice Maiden

Winter, my cruel Mistress, Lady of the mountains,
Thy celestial beauty haunts me!
Winter, Khione’s wise Daughter, Queen of Nilflheim,
I implore Thee, sing me thy sorrowful airs!
Winter, my cruel Mistress, Lady of mountains,
In my heart; You dance gracefully
In my eyes; You are a majestic twilight
And in my soul; You are a blue rose!
