NSU Pharmacy Students, Lab Officer Pioneers of Bangladesh’s First Effervescent Paracetamol
In a landmark achievement for Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical industry, two brilliant pharmacy students from North South University, Saifuddin Ahmed and Sheikh Arefin Rashid, have successfully developed the nation’s first-ever effervescent paracetamol tablet. This groundbreaking project was made possible with the guidance and support of their lab officer, Delower Hossain.
Effervescent tablets, known for their ability to dissolve in water, provide a faster-acting alternative to traditional solid tablets. The new paracetamol formulation aims to offer quicker relief from pain and fever, a much-needed innovation for patients struggling with swallowing pills. Additionally, the rapid absorption rate of the effervescent version makes it an attractive option for healthcare professionals seeking to provide more immediate results.
The innovative idea was initiated by SaifuddinAhmed, who previously gained recognition for his development of color-blind glasses in Bangladesh, showing his knack for addressing real-world healthcare challenges. Both students and their mentor hope this new development will bring significant improvements to patient care in Bangladesh and beyond.
