Chittagong, October 31, 2023 – On the inaugural day of the strike called by the BNP-Jamaat alliance, Chittagong authorities were met with a concerning discovery. Seven unexploded Molotov cocktails were recovered in the Akbar Shah Thana area, a well-traveled road in the city.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when a group of individuals affiliated with the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) organized a procession in support of the strike. This demonstration took place on the well-established Dhaka-Chittagong highway, where some of the participants resorted to vandalizing vehicles along the route.
In response to the unruly situation, local law enforcement promptly intervened. Waliuddin Akbar, the officer in charge of the Akbar Shah Thana, reported that the police detained 14 individuals at the scene. Following their apprehension, a search operation was conducted based on information obtained during interrogations.
This operation yielded a startling discovery: seven unexploded Molotov cocktails were found concealed within a black bag. Remarkably, no one was apprehended in connection to these dangerous devices at the site.
Authorities are currently engaged in an ongoing investigation at the Akbar Shah Thana concerning this alarming incident. Public safety remains a top priority as they work diligently to understand the full scope of the situation and ensure the protection of citizens in Chittagong.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, and the local community remains vigilant as the strike continues.
